We have been learning about the story of the Little Red Hen. She has to make bread all on her own when none of her friends will help her. However, in Reception we all helped each other make bread rolls, just like the Little Red Hen.

We had great fun measuring out all of the ingredients, but had to make sure we got the right amount. It was really hard to mix with a spoon, but we all enjoyed kneading the dough.

We learnt why we need yeast when making bread and we could smell it in the classroom as we left the dough to rise. This was not very nice, but after it was cooked it smelt wonderful.

We all spread our bread with butter and then chose the topping – jam, honey or chocolate spread. Chocolate spread was the most popular and we could see this by the colour of faces as we ate our bread!

We have loved looking at dinosaurs and learnt that there are many different types. We used a range of materials to make our own dinosaurs.

We learnt that the Romans used small tiles to make pictures on their floors, called mosaics. We then made our own mosaic pictures.

We have used books to find out more information about our topic.

In role play we have been building castles outside, although it was a little cold. We dressed up as knights and princesses as well

Some of us used different building materials to make castles including Lego and Junk modelling

The chick was still damp when we first saw it.

Later in the morning the second chick hatched. We have called it Diamond.

By the end of the day 4 chicks had hatched. The plan is to give them all names linked to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Thank you to Mrs Gee for bringing the incubator and eggs in to school and allowing us to share in this miracle of nature.

We can’t wait to see all of the chicks.

The children then completed their maths and English SATs tests each day. All tried their best and now we have to wait til July for the results.

As soon as the new school week started the teachers (Mrs Marney and Mrs Dimarco) and the children of year 4 started preparing their speeches. Year 4 had only 2 days practise on the stage in the hall before they performed it to the whole school and  to their parents.

All of the children had very clear voices and us Year 6′s at the back could hear them very well!

Following a visit to the Priest’s House Museum in Wimborne we have been chosen to star in their publicity material. Some children who visited the museum in the Autumn term now feature in the brochures and posters for the museum. If you would like further information please visit the museum’s website.

We hope KS2 enjoyed learning all about snails in assembly. The snails enjoyed meeting you!

Session 1 – 8.00 am until 8.45 am – to include breakfast.      *Cost £2.50 per child per session

Session 2 – 8.15 am until 8.45 am – without breakfast.          *Cost £1.50 per child per session

* There is a reduction of 50p for the second, third and fourth sibling.  For example, three siblings will pay £2.50   + £2.00 + £2.00.

The children will be registered every morning on entry.  At the end of the session they will be taken from the Music and Drama Room and escorted to the playground in readiness for the whistle and class line up.

 The children will not be permitted to bring in “toys” from home as there will be plentiful games provided.

 All parents will be initially required to complete and return a registration form.  These will be kept on record so any change of details must be notified directly to the Breakfast Club.

 Ideally bookings will be made at least 48 hours in advance, but we may be able to accommodate shorter notice periods for “last minute” events, provided a registration form is held in our records.

 All payments to be made at the time of booking, block bookings (for the full term) can be paid weekly or fortnightly in advance.  Credits will be issued for cancellations provided 24 hours notice has been given.
